Oval Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

An oval lab-grown diamond engagement ring sets an elongated brilliant-cut diamond, grown in a laboratory, at the centre of a ring you can wear every day. The oval's long, softly rounded outline covers more of the finger than a round diamond of the same carat weight, and it suits solitaire, halo and three-stone settings equally well. Every diamond in this collection is laboratory-grown and certified. Our white diamonds are EF colour and VVS clarity, priced at a flat ₹35,000 per carat, and every ring is set in BIS-hallmarked gold. The collection also includes coloured oval designs from our Chromatique range, which are priced separately.

This collection brings together more than fifty oval-cut designs, from clean four-prong solitaires to halo, three-stone, bezel and side-stone settings, in yellow, white and rose gold. Use the filters to sort by price, metal colour, setting style (halo, pavé, solitaire) or availability, and open any design to see its diamond details, weight and price. Every price shown is the complete, all-in figure, inclusive of 3% Goods and Services Tax (GST), with no hidden making charges added at checkout.

Why Choose An Oval Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Ring

The oval is an elongated version of the round brilliant, so it keeps much of that shape's sparkle while giving a distinctly different outline. Its length draws the eye along the finger and can make the hand look longer and more slender; because it has no sharp corners, an oval sits comfortably against the skin and is less exposed to knocks than pointed shapes such as the marquise or pear.

An oval gives you four things at once, which is why it has become one of the most requested shapes we craft.

It looks larger for its weight: Because an oval spreads the same carat weight across a longer outline, it often presents a slightly bigger face-up than a round diamond of equal weight. This depends on how the individual stone is cut rather than being guaranteed, but it is a real advantage when you are weighing size against budget.

It flatters the hand: The length draws the eye along the finger, which is why ovals are so often described as elongating and slimming.

It wears well: There are no sharp points to catch on a coat sleeve the way a marquise or pear tip can, so an oval is a sensible everyday shape as much as a beautiful one.

It suits every style: Plain solitaire, halo, vintage-inspired or three-stone. The same shape carries very different looks, which matters when you are designing around one person's taste rather than a trend.

What Makes A Good Oval Diamond?

There is no single number that makes an oval the best one in the tray. A good oval is a combination: proportions and a length-to-width ratio you actually like, clean symmetry, a faint bow-tie, light that returns evenly across the whole stone face-up, and colour and clarity that read white and eye-clean.

Here is what a grading report can't tell you. Two ovals with identical grades on paper can still look different in person. So the most reliable check is the stone itself, or a clear video of it, not the certificate alone. That is exactly why we will show you any ring on a live video call before you decide.

How To Choose An Oval Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Ring

An oval rewards more attention than a round, because cut quality varies far more from stone to stone. Five things decide whether you are looking at a good one:

Length-to-width ratio: settle your outline first: Ratio is the diamond's length divided by its width, and it controls how elongated the oval looks. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) notes that most buyers prefer a ratio between 1.30 and 1.50. Around 1.30 to 1.40 is gently elongated and flatters most fingers; 1.41 to 1.50 is longer and more dramatic, and it is the range people choose for a slimming look. Below 1.30, the stone starts to read round, and much above 1.50, it starts to look narrow. There is no correct answer here, only your preference, so compare two or three side by side before you commit.

The bow-tie: judge it with your eyes, not the certificate: The bow-tie is a dark, bow-shaped shadow across the middle of an oval. GIA describes it as a dark shadow across the centre that is common in elongated cuts. Nearly every elongated diamond has one to some degree, so it is not a flaw in itself; a well-cut oval shows only a faint one, a poorly cut oval shows a heavy shadow. The catch is that bow-tie intensity is never printed on a grading report, and two ovals with identical measurements can look completely different. This is the single best reason to view the actual stone, or a clear video of it, before you buy.

Symmetry: look for Very Good or Excellent. Symmetry describes how evenly the facets are aligned and how balanced the outline is, and it matters more on an oval than on most shapes. Well-aligned facets return light uniformly, which softens the bow-tie, and any unevenness in a long outline is easy to spot. A symmetrical oval also sits straight in its setting, with the tips centred. On an International Gemological Institute (IGI) report, Very Good or Excellent is what you want.

Carat: weight, not size: Carat measures how much a diamond weighs, not how big it looks. Two ovals of the same carat weight can present very differently depending on how they are proportioned. Read the millimetre measurements and the ratio alongside the carat weight, and think about how the stone sits within the setting, rather than shopping on carat alone.

Colour and clarity: EF and VVS on our white diamonds: Our white lab-grown diamonds are EF in colour and VVS in clarity. EF sits within the colourless range, so the stone looks white, and VVS means inclusions are difficult to see even under magnification, let alone with the naked eye. Elongated shapes can show a faint warmth toward the tips, which is one more reason EF is a safe grade for an oval. If you prefer colour, our Chromatique range includes blue, yellow and other coloured ovals, which are graded on colour intensity rather than the D–Z scale.

Finding Your Setting Style

The setting decides both the character of the ring and how it holds up to daily wear. These are the oval settings we craft most:

  • Solitaire: a single oval on a plain or pavé band, with nothing competing for attention. The most timeless choice, and the easiest to pair with a wedding band later. Explore solitaire settings.

  • Halo: a ring of small diamonds around the oval, adding sparkle and making the centre stone look larger. Browse halo designs.

  • Hidden halo: accent diamonds tucked beneath the centre stone, so the ring stays clean from above and sparkles from the side. A modern favourite. See hidden halo rings.

  • Three-stone: an oval flanked by two side diamonds, often read as past, present and future. Symbolic, and full of presence. View three-stone rings.

  • Side-stone and pavé: diamonds set along the band for continuous sparkle that frames the centre stone. Explore side-stone designs and pavé bands.

  • Bezel: a rim of metal around the stone. Clean, contemporary, and the most secure of the lot. Explore Bezel

A practical note, specific to ovals: the tips are the most exposed part of the stone. Look for prongs positioned to protect them, or choose a bezel if you work a lot with your hands. It is a small detail that decides how the ring looks in ten years.

Choosing Your Gold

Reia crafts oval rings in yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold, and many designs are available in more than one tone and in both 14KT and 18KT.

  • White gold is bright and contemporary, and it lets an EF diamond read as white as it possibly can.

  • Yellow gold is warm and classic, and it makes the stone stand out by contrast.

  • Rose gold is softer and more romantic, and it suits vintage-inspired settings particularly well.

Tone and karatage vary by design, so check the options on each product page, or simply ask us to craft your chosen ring in the metal you want.

What an Oval Costs at Reia

We price our lab-grown diamonds at a flat ₹35,000 per carat. The rate does not change with size, so the diamond cost scales in a straight line with carat weight instead of jumping at round-number thresholds. Work out the stone before you look at the ring:

Diamond carat weight

Diamond price at ₹35,000 per carat

0.30 ct

₹10,500

0.50 ct

₹17,500

1.00 ct

₹35,000

1.50 ct

₹52,500

2.00 ct

₹70,000

That rate covers the diamond only. The finished ring also includes the gold, the making charges, and 3% GST, which is why every product page shows one complete figure rather than a stone price. What you see on the page is what you pay, GST included, with nothing added at checkout.

Two things this makes easy. You can see exactly what moving up a carat does to your budget, and you can compare two rings on a like-for-like basis without doing arithmetic. And if a matching band is likely to follow, the Carat Club membership waives making charges, which is worth a conversation before you order.

All The Important Questions For Oval Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

1. Are lab-grown oval diamonds real diamonds? Yes, same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined (GIA), grown by HPHT or CVD, graded on the same 4Cs.

2. What length-to-width ratio is best for an oval? Most prefer 1.30–1.50; 1.30–1.40 is gently elongated, 1.41–1.50 is more dramatic. No single correct ratio.

3. What is the bow-tie effect? A dark shadow across an oval's centre from the viewer's head blocking light; normal in elongated cuts, varies by stone, not on grading reports, minimised by a good cut.

4. Does an oval look bigger than a round of the same carat? Often slightly larger face-up, depending on the cut; not guaranteed.

5. What makes a good oval diamond? Good proportions and ratio, strong symmetry, a faint bow-tie, even face-up light return, and suitable colour and clarity, judged on the actual stone.

6. How much does an oval lab-grown diamond cost at Reia? ₹35,000 per carat for the diamond (0.50 ct = ₹17,500, 1 ct = ₹35,000); the finished ring adds gold, making charges, and 3% GST.

7. Are Reia's diamonds certified? IGI-certified diamonds one carat and above (SDI also used); all gold BIS-hallmarked.

8. Can I customise an oval ring at Reia? Yes, design, karatage, polish, diamond spec, size, and engraving, with a 3D rendering approved before crafting.

9. Where can I buy an oval lab-grown ring in India? Online, on a live video call, or in Reia's Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Guwahati stores.

Lab-Grown Diamonds At Reia Diamonds

Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Real Diamonds?

Yes. A lab-grown diamond is a diamond.

GIA confirms that laboratory-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and optical and physical properties as diamonds formed in the earth. The only difference is the origin. A lab-grown diamond is created through a technological process, either High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD), instead of forming underground over millions of years, and it is graded on the same 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight.

It is not a simulant. Cubic zirconia and moissanite are different materials that resemble diamonds. A lab-grown diamond is the material itself.

Certified, Hallmarked and Guaranteed

Every oval you buy from Reia arrives documented:

  • Certified diamonds: Every diamond we sell is certified by IGI, and we certify through SDI as well. An IGI report records carat weight, colour, clarity, polish and symmetry, plus a cut grade where the report includes one, along with the stone's measurements and a unique report number laser-inscribed on the girdle so you can match the certificate to the diamond in your hand.

  • BIS-hallmarked gold: All Reia gold is BIS-hallmarked, an independent guarantee of purity. Diamond certification and gold hallmarking are two different assurances, and your ring carries both.

  • One all-in price: Inclusive of 3% GST, with no extra charges appearing at checkout.

  • Lifetime exchange and buyback: Your ring keeps its value with us over time. The current terms are on our lifetime exchange and buyback page.

Customise Your Oval Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Ring

If a design is almost right but not quite, change it. Any oval in this collection can be customised across:

  • The design itself, from a small adjustment to a ring built from scratch

  • Gold karatage and polish, 14KT or 18KT, in the tone you want

  • Diamond specification, carat weight, ratio, and proportions are tuned to the hand it is made for

  • Ring size

  • Engraving, a date, initials, or a message inside the band

The process is simple. Share a design or an inspiration image; we prepare a 3D rendering and, where needed, a wax model for you to review, and we begin crafting only once you have approved it. Nothing is made before you have seen it.

Start by customising your engagement ring, designing your own ring from scratch, or booking a design consultation with our team.

FAQ Section

Q.1 Are lab-grown oval diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab-grown oval is a real diamond, with essentially the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and optical properties as a mined diamond, according to GIA. It is grown in a laboratory using HPHT or CVD rather than formed underground, and it is graded on the same 4Cs. It is not a simulant such as cubic zirconia or moissanite.

Q.2 What is a good length-to-width ratio for an oval diamond?

GIA notes that most buyers prefer a ratio between 1.30 and 1.50. Around 1.30 to 1.40 looks gently elongated and suits most fingers; 1.41 to 1.50 looks longer and more dramatic. There is no single correct ratio, so it comes down to the outline you prefer. Compare a few before deciding.

Q.3 What is the bow-tie effect, and is it a flaw?

The bow-tie is a dark, bow-shaped shadow across the centre of an oval, common in elongated cuts and never recorded on a grading report. Nearly all elongated diamonds show one to some degree, so it is not a flaw in itself. A well-cut oval shows only a faint bow-tie. Because its intensity is never recorded on a grading report, the only reliable way to judge it is to view the stone or a clear video of it.

Q.4 Does an oval look bigger than a round of the same carat?

It often looks slightly larger face-up because an oval spreads its weight across a longer outline. That is not guaranteed, though, and it depends on how each stone is cut. Compare the millimetre measurements rather than relying on carat weight alone.

Q.5 How much does an oval lab-grown diamond cost at Reia?

We price our lab-grown diamonds at a flat ₹35,000 per carat, so a 0.50 carat diamond is ₹17,500 and a 1 carat diamond is ₹35,000. That rate is for the diamond itself. The final ring price also includes the gold, the making charges, and 3% GST, and each product page shows the complete all-in figure with nothing added at checkout.

Q.6 What setting suits an oval best?

There is no single best setting. A solitaire keeps the focus on the stone, a halo adds sparkle and apparent size, a hidden halo keeps the ring clean from above, and a three-stone design adds symbolism and presence. If you are hands-on at work, look for prongs that protect the tips or a bezel.

Q.7 Are Reia's oval diamonds certified, and is the gold hallmarked?

Yes to both. Our lab-grown diamonds are certified, with IGI certification for diamonds of one carat and above, and SDI certification is also used. All Reia gold is BIS-hallmarked in 14KT and 18KT. Certification confirms the diamond's grades; hallmarking independently confirms gold purity.

Q.8 Can I customise an oval lab-grown diamond engagement ring?

Yes. You can change the design, the gold karatage and polish, the diamond specification and the ring size, and add an engraving. We prepare a 3D rendering for your approval before anything is crafted. Start online or book a design consultation with the team.

Q.9 Where can I buy an oval lab-grown diamond engagement ring in India?

Online through this collection, on a live video call with a Reia advisor, or in person at our stores in Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Guwahati. Every route gives you the same certified diamonds, hallmarked gold, and all-in pricing.
