Chromatique Collection: Coloured Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

Most engagement rings ask you to choose a shape and a setting. Chromatique adds the one decision that makes a ring unmistakably yours: colour.

This is our collection of coloured lab-grown diamond engagement rings, blue, pink, yellow, and green, grown in a matter of weeks rather than mined over a billion years, then cut, set, and hand-finished by our own artisans in India. Each coloured centre stone is a real diamond, the same pure carbon and the same 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness as any white diamond, only with a vivid, deliberate hue locked into its crystal. White EF-colour, VVS-clarity diamonds frame the colour and make it sing.

A coloured diamond ring says something a colourless solitaire cannot. It signals a person who chose intention over convention, who wanted their forever piece to look like no one else's. From a soft blush-pink halo to a deep ocean-blue three-stone, every design in Chromatique is built around one idea: that the most modern way to wear a diamond is in colour.

Explore Coloured Diamond Rings by Hue

Blue Diamond Rings

Blue is the most sought-after colour in fancy diamonds, and the heart of Chromatique. Lab-grown blue diamonds take their colour from boron, the same element behind the world's most famous mined blue stones, giving a cool, oceanic depth that ranges from soft sky to deep sapphire-blue. Blue suits the calm, the loyal, the quietly confident, and looks striking in white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold alike. Explore our blue diamond rings.

Pink Diamond Rings

Pink is romance made visible, and our best-selling colour. Natural pink diamonds are among the rarest stones on earth; lab-grown pink brings that soft blush-to-rose glow within reach for the first time. It flatters every skin tone and turns even a simple solitaire into something tender and distinctive. Pink is for the incurable romantic, and it is beautiful in rose gold. Browse our pink diamond rings.

Yellow Diamond Rings

Yellow is the warm, timeless choice, coloured by nitrogen during growth, just as canary diamonds are in nature. A yellow diamond reads as sunlit and joyful, classic enough for heritage-inspired designs yet bold against a halo of white diamonds. It is the colour for the optimist, the one who lights up a room, and it looks rich in both yellow and white gold. See our yellow diamond rings.

Green Diamond Rings

Green is the rarest hue we offer and the quiet showstopper. Lab-grown green diamonds gain their colour through controlled irradiation, the same process nature uses underground over millions of years, producing tones from fresh mint to deep forest. Green speaks to growth, renewal and individuality, perfect for the bride who wants something almost no one else will have. Discover our green diamond rings.

How Lab-Grown Diamonds Get Their Colour

A diamond's colour comes down to one thing: what happens to its carbon as it forms. Pure carbon makes a white diamond. Introduce a trace element or alter the crystal's structure, and that same carbon turns blue, yellow, green or pink. In a lab, we control that process deliberately.

Mined fancy-coloured diamonds get their hue by chance, the rare moment a stray element or a geological stress meets a forming crystal. Lab-grown diamonds reach the same result on purpose, using the same physics:

  • Blue comes from boron atoms woven in as the diamond grows. Boron absorbs warm light and lets blue through, the identical mechanism behind the world's most famous mined blue diamonds.

  • Yellow comes from nitrogen introduced during growth. More nitrogen means a deeper, more golden yellow.

  • Green is created by controlled irradiation, which shifts the carbon lattice in the same way natural underground radiation does over millions of years.

  • Pink is the most complex. Its colour comes from a structural change in the crystal rather than an added element, recreated in the lab through precise pressure, heat and post-growth treatment.

Because every step is controlled, lab-grown coloured diamonds arrive cleaner, more consistent and far more available than the natural stones they mirror.

Understanding Coloured Diamond Grading

Coloured diamonds are not graded on the familiar D-to-Z scale used for white diamonds. With a white diamond, less colour is better. With a coloured diamond, the opposite is true: the more vivid and saturated the colour, the rarer and more valuable the stone.

A coloured diamond's grade describes three things:

  • Hue is the colour itself, blue, pink, yellow or green, along with any secondary tints, such as a pink with a warm orange undertone.

  • Tone is how light or dark the colour is, from pale to deep.

  • Saturation is the strength of the colour, and it is the single biggest driver of value.

Saturation is described on a fancy-colour scale that runs from a faint hint up to the most prized, fully saturated grades:

Grade

What it means

Faint / Very Light / Light

A gentle, pastel hint of colour

Fancy Light

Clearly coloured but soft

Fancy

A full, distinct colour

Fancy Intense

Strong, rich saturation

Fancy Vivid

The most prized, fully saturated colour

Fancy Deep / Fancy Dark

Deep, concentrated tones

In a natural diamond, a Fancy Vivid grade can multiply the price many times over. With a lab-grown diamond, you choose exactly the intensity you want, soft and romantic or deep and dramatic, and pay for the look rather than the rarity. Every coloured Reia diamond is graded so you know precisely what you are wearing, set with IGI- or SDI-certified EF-colour, VVS-clarity white diamonds.

Why Choose Lab-Grown Coloured Diamonds?

A natural fancy-coloured diamond is one of the most expensive things on earth. A vivid blue or pink mined stone can cost millions per carat, when one can be found at all. Lab-grown coloured diamonds change that maths completely, without changing what the stone actually is.

They are real, certified diamonds. Every coloured diamond is graded for its colour by hue, tone and saturation, and set alongside IGI- or SDI-certified EF-colour, VVS-clarity white diamonds, so you have documentation for exactly what is on your finger.

The value is genuinely hard to ignore. Because the colour is created intentionally rather than waiting for a billion years, a lab-grown blue, pink, yellow or green diamond costs a fraction of its mined equivalent. The same budget that might buy a faint, included natural fancy stone buys a clean, vividly coloured lab diamond several times the size.

They are ethical and sustainable by design. Lab-grown diamonds are conflict-free and fully traceable, with a far smaller environmental footprint than mining: no displaced earth, no opaque supply chain.

They are built for daily wear. A coloured lab-grown diamond is still a 10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest material you can wear, and its colour is permanent under normal wear and care. You are buying a ring that will look exactly as vivid in thirty years as it does today.

Rarity and long-term collectability

If you want the most beautiful coloured diamond for your budget, a clear conscience and a ring you will love wearing every day, lab-grown is the modern choice. If your priority is the rarity and collectability of a natural fancy stone, a mined diamond keeps that edge.

Coloured Diamond or Coloured Gemstone?

Shoppers drawn to a blue ring often weigh a blue diamond against a sapphire, or a green diamond against an emerald. The difference that matters most for a ring you will wear every day is durability. A diamond is a 10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest material there is. A sapphire is a 9. An emerald is softer still and more prone to chipping.

A coloured diamond gives you the colour of a gemstone with the toughness and fire of a diamond. It sparkles with the same brilliance as a white diamond rather than the softer glow of a coloured stone, resists scratches and knocks better, and, in lab-grown form, arrives fully certified with documented colour grading. For an heirloom meant to last generations, a coloured diamond is the more durable choice, while a sapphire or emerald remains a beautiful option for anyone who specifically wants that gemstone's character.

How to Choose a Coloured Diamond Engagement Ring

Choosing a coloured diamond ring follows the same logic as any engagement ring, with one extra, joyful decision at the front: the colour.

  1. Start with the colour. Pick the hue that means the most, whether that is a favourite colour, a birthstone, or simply the shade that suits the wearer. Blue and green read cool and modern; pink and yellow read warm and romantic.

  2. Match the metal to the colour. White gold sharpens cool colours like blue and makes them pop. Rose gold flatters pink and warms a stone beautifully. Yellow gold enriches yellow and lends warmth to any hue.

  3. Choose a setting that frames the colour. A halo of white diamonds makes a coloured centre look larger and more vivid. A bezel outlines the colour in metal for a clean, modern contrast. A three-stone or toi et moi design sets colour and white diamonds side by side.

  4. Decide on intensity. A softer, fancy-light stone feels delicate and everyday; a fancy-vivid or deep stone makes a bold statement. With lab-grown, the choice is yours rather than your budget's.

  5. Pick a shape. Coloured diamonds suit every shape. Elongated cuts such as oval, pear, marquise and emerald show colour across a larger surface, while radiant and cushion cuts concentrate it with extra sparkle.

  6. Confirm the size. Borrow a ring the wearer already owns, or let our team confirm sizing before crafting. Most Reia rings can be resized free of charge.

If the perfect combination is not already in the collection, our in-house design team will build your ring around the exact colour, shape and setting you want.

Who Are Chromatique Rings Designed For?

Chromatique is for anyone who has looked at a row of identical colourless solitaires and wanted something that felt like them.

The modern bride who always knew her ring would not be ordinary. The non-traditional couple who want a symbol with personality rather than a default. The fashion-forward buyer who treats jewellery as self-expression and already knows their colour. The luxury shopper who wants the look of a rare fancy diamond, the kind that headlines auctions, without the seven-figure price. And the thoughtful gift-giver marking an engagement, an anniversary or a milestone with a colour that means something to the person receiving it.

Colour also lets you say something specific: blue for steadiness, pink for love, yellow for joy, green for new beginnings. Many of our customers choose a hue tied to a birthstone, a favourite colour, or simply the shade that has always felt like home. Whoever you are buying for, a Chromatique ring is for the person who would rather be unforgettable than conventional.

FAQ Section

Q1. What are coloured lab-grown diamonds?

Coloured lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds grown in a laboratory with a deliberate, vivid hue such as blue, pink, yellow or green. They share the identical chemical and physical structure of white diamonds: pure crystallised carbon, 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. The only differences from a mined coloured diamond are their origin and their far more accessible price.

Q2. Are coloured lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A coloured lab-grown diamond is a genuine diamond, chemically and optically identical to a mined one, with the same hardness, brilliance and fire. It is not a simulant like cubic zirconia or moissanite. The colour comes from the same trace elements and structural effects that colour natural diamonds, simply created under controlled laboratory conditions instead of underground.

Q3. How do lab-grown diamonds get their colour?

Each colour comes from a specific cause. Blue diamonds get their hue from boron, and yellow diamonds from nitrogen, both introduced as the diamond grows. Green diamonds are produced through controlled irradiation, and pink diamonds through a structural change created with precise heat, pressure or post-growth treatment. These are the same mechanisms that colour rare natural diamonds, deliberately guided in the lab.

Q4. Are blue lab-grown diamonds suitable for engagement rings?

Yes, and they are increasingly popular. Blue is the most in-demand fancy diamond colour, and lab-grown blue diamonds offer the same depth as famous mined blues at a fraction of the cost. They score 10 on the Mohs scale, so they handle daily wear easily. Blue looks especially striking set in white gold with colourless diamond accents.

Q5. What is the rarest coloured diamond?

Red is the rarest diamond colour. Only around 20 to 30 true natural red diamonds are known to exist worldwide, which is why they command extraordinary prices at auction. Blue, green, pink and violet diamonds are also exceptionally rare in nature. Lab-grown technology now recreates these rare hues, making colours that were once almost unobtainable accessible as everyday jewellery.

Q6. Are coloured diamond rings more affordable than mined coloured diamonds?

Significantly. Natural fancy-colour diamonds are among the most expensive gemstones on earth, often costing many times a comparable white diamond and reaching millions per carat for vivid blues and pinks. A lab-grown coloured diamond of similar size and saturation costs a small fraction of that, which is what makes a vividly coloured engagement ring genuinely attainable.

Q7. What colour diamond engagement ring should I choose?

Choose the colour that means the most to the wearer. Blue suits the calm and loyal and shines in white gold; pink is soft and romantic and beautiful in rose gold; yellow is warm and classic in either yellow or white gold; green is rare and individual. Many people pick a hue tied to a birthstone, a favourite colour or a shared memory.

Q8. Are coloured lab-grown diamonds certified?

Yes. Coloured lab-grown diamonds are independently graded, with the report describing the colour by its hue, tone and saturation rather than the D-to-Z scale used for white diamonds. At Reia, our diamonds are IGI or SDI certified, and our gold is BIS-hallmarked, so every ring comes with documentation of exactly what you are buying.

Q9. Do coloured lab-grown diamonds last forever?

Yes. A coloured lab-grown diamond is a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, the same as any diamond and the most scratch-resistant material you can wear every day. Its colour is permanent and will not fade with normal wear, sunlight or cleaning. With routine care, a soak in warm soapy water and an occasional setting check, it stays as vivid as the day you bought it.

Q10. How much do coloured lab-grown diamond engagement rings cost at Reia?

Reia's Chromatique coloured diamond rings start from under ₹50,000 and rise to around ₹2,50,000 for larger statement pieces, with most designs falling between ₹50,000 and ₹1,00,000. The final price depends on the colour, the carat weight of the centre stone, the shape and the gold weight. Every ring is BIS-hallmarked, certified, and available with Cash on Delivery.

Q11. Are coloured diamonds more expensive than white diamonds?

A lab-grown coloured diamond usually costs a little more than a white lab-grown diamond of the same size, because creating and grading the colour adds a step. The difference is small, though, and nothing like the premium on mined coloured diamonds, which can cost many times their white equivalents. At Reia, coloured rings start from under ₹50,000.

Q12. Which colour diamond is the most popular?

After colourless, blue is the most popular diamond colour, prized for its depth and its striking contrast in white gold. Pink follows closely and is our own best-selling hue for its romance. Yellow remains a warm, timeless favourite, and green is the rarest and most individual choice. The right colour is ultimately the one that suits the wearer.

Q13. Can I get a coloured lab-grown diamond in any shape?

Yes. Coloured lab-grown diamonds are available in every popular shape, including round, oval, pear, emerald, cushion, marquise and radiant. Elongated shapes such as oval and pear display colour across a larger surface, while radiant and cushion cuts concentrate it for extra sparkle. If you have a specific shape and colour in mind, we can create it as a custom piece.

Q14. Is a coloured diamond a good choice for an engagement ring?

Yes. A coloured diamond engagement ring is as durable as any diamond ring, at 10 on the Mohs scale, and far more distinctive than a colourless solitaire. It lets the wearer express personality through colour while keeping a diamond's brilliance and longevity. Coloured engagement rings are one of the fastest-growing modern bridal choices for exactly this reason.

Q15. Is a coloured diamond better than a sapphire or an emerald for a ring?

For everyday durability, yes. A diamond is a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than a sapphire at 9 and far harder than an emerald, which chips more easily. A coloured diamond also sparkles with a diamond's brilliance and, in lab-grown form, comes certified with graded colour. A sapphire or emerald remains a lovely choice for anyone who specifically wants that gemstone.

Q16. Do lab-grown coloured diamonds hold their value?

Lab-grown coloured diamonds are priced as everyday luxury rather than as a financial investment, and open-market resale values are currently limited. What protects your spend at Reia is the Carat Club: our lifetime exchange and buyback lets you trade up and recover up to 70% of your diamond's value toward an upgrade, with zero making charges for members.
