An engagement ring is never really just jewellery. It's the first thing you reach for every morning, the thing you glance at when words fall short, the quiet proof of a decision you made together. At Reia Diamonds, we think a ring which carries that kind of meaning should be beautiful, honest about what it is, and built to last a lifetime of real days, not just the one in the photos.
That's why every ring in this collection is a lab-grown diamond: real diamond, pure carbon, a perfect 10 on the Mohs scale, graded to EF colour and VVS clarity by IGI or SDI, and set in BIS-hallmarked 14KT or 18KT gold, hand-finished in our own workshop in India. The lab-grown difference means the same budget that would buy a modest mined stone gets you something genuinely brilliant, conflict-free, and certified, with room left for the celebration.
Certified diamonds, made to be worn every day
Certified diamonds, made to be worn every day
Most jewellery lives in a box. An engagement ring doesn't; it goes to work, to the gym, through dishes and deadlines and decades. So when we say every Reia ring is built for real life, we mean it structurally: lab-grown diamonds graded by IGI or SDI, set in BIS-hallmarked 14KT or 18KT gold, with the certification to prove every claim we make about what's on your finger.
We hold our stones to a higher standard than the commercial average EF colour and VVS clarity as the house baseline, which means near-colourless, eye-clean diamonds that look just as alive in office lighting as they do in a ring-box photo. Settings are designed to match: secure four- or six-prong and bezel holds on lightweight bands that sit comfortably, snag nothing, and move with you without ever announcing themselves.
And because these are lab-grown diamonds, the value shifts in your favour in a way that's genuinely hard to ignore. The same budget that would buy a modest mined stone gets you something larger, whiter, and cleaner with full traceability and none of the ethical question marks mining carries. More on how the two compare in the Lab-grown vs natural section below.
How to choose an engagement ring
There is no single "right" ring; only the right ring for the person wearing it. Here is the order we walk every customer through.
1. Set a budget you're comfortable with.
Ignore the old "three months' salary" rule; it was a marketing slogan, not financial advice. Decide on a number that feels right, then let the ring fit the number. At Reia, lab-grown lets that number go much further. Designs start around ₹15,000 and run past ₹3,00,000, with most engagement rings landing between ₹40,000 and ₹1,50,000 depending on carat, shape, and gold weight. Shop by budget: under ₹40K.
2. Choose a diamond shape.
Shape is the single biggest driver of how a ring looks. Round is the timeless all-rounder; oval and pear look larger for the carat; emerald and Asscher are clean and architectural; princess and cushion sit between sparkle and modern edge. Full breakdown in A guide to diamond shapes below.
3. Pick a setting style.
A solitaire puts all the attention on one stone. A halo frames the centre with smaller diamonds to make it look bigger and brighter. Three-stone rings symbolize past, present, and future. Pavé bands add sparkle along the shank.
4. Choose your gold.
White, yellow or rose, this is about skin tone and personal style more than anything technical. Guide below in Choosing your metal.
5. Match it to their lifestyle.
Hands-on job, sport, or small children? A lower-profile setting with a bezel or sturdy prongs and a slightly smaller, well-protected stone will wear better than a tall, delicate design. Love drama and rarely worry about knocks? Go taller and bolder.
6. Get the size right.
Ring size is the one thing people most often get wrong when buying as a surprise. Borrow a ring she already wears on that finger, or choose a design and let our team help. Most Reia rings can be resized free of charge, and our design consultation can confirm sizing before anything is made.
Understanding diamond quality: the 4Cs
Diamonds are graded on four characteristics: Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat. Here is what each one actually does to the ring in the hand, in plain language.
Cut: the one that matters most.
Cut is not shape; it's how well the diamond's facets are proportioned and polished. A well-cut diamond bounces light back at you and looks alive; a poorly cut one looks dull even if it's large and flawless. If you optimize one of the 4Cs, optimize cut. Look for Excellent or Ideal cut grades.
Colour: how white the stone is.
Graded D (completely colourless) down to Z (visibly tinted). For a white-diamond look, you want the colourless to near-colourless range. Reia's house standard is E–F, which sits at the top of that range and looks bright white in any setting. (In yellow or rose gold, you can comfortably go a touch lower without seeing tint, because the metal masks it.)
Clarity: how clean it is inside.
Graded from Flawless down through VVS, VS, SI and I, based on tiny natural inclusions. Most clarity differences are invisible without magnification. VVS (Reia's standard) is eye-clean with only very, very slight inclusions visible under a loupe, well above the point where you'd ever notice anything with the naked eye.
Carat is the weight (and rough size).
One carat = 0.2 grams. Carat is weight, not diameter, and price rises steeply at the round numbers (1.00ct, 2.00ct) because of demand. Two practical tips: a 0.90ct stone looks almost identical to a 1.00ct but costs noticeably less; and elongated shapes (oval, pear, marquise, emerald) look larger than a round of the same carat.
The lab-grown advantage across all four: because growth is controlled, lab diamonds cluster at the high end of colour and clarity. It's genuinely easy to get D–F colour and VVS clarity in a lab stone grades that command a steep premium in mined diamonds. That's why the same money buys a visibly better diamond.
Lab-grown vs natural diamonds
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is pure crystallized carbon with the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance and fire, and the same optical and chemical properties as a mined diamond. The only difference is origin: one is grown in a few weeks in a lab using CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) or HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) technology; the other took a billion years underground. Side by side, even a trained gemologist needs specialist equipment to tell them apart.

The honest summary: if you want the most beautiful diamond for your budget, a clear conscience, and a ring you'll love wearing, lab-grown is the smart modern choice, which is why the majority of new engagement rings now use lab-grown centre stones. If your priority is rarity and resale as a store of value, a mined diamond still has the edge. Reia is a lab-grown specialist; what protects your spend with us is the Carat Club exchange and buyback (see Why couples choose Reia), not the open resale market.
Choosing your metal: white, yellow & rose gold.
Every Reia engagement ring is crafted in BIS-hallmarked 14KT or 18KT gold. 18KT is purer and richer in colour; 14KT is slightly harder and a little more affordable; both are excellent for daily wear. The bigger decision is colour.
White gold: cool, bright and contemporary. It makes white diamonds look extra white and suits cooler skin tones beautifully. It's the closest look to platinum at a far friendlier price. Best for: a classic, modern, "diamond-forward" look. Shop white gold engagement rings.
Yellow gold is warm, classic, and timeless. It flatters warm and deeper skin tones, has a rich traditional feel, and never needs re-plating. Best for: vintage-inspired, heritage and traditional Indian aesthetics. Shop yellow gold engagement rings.
Rose gold: soft, romantic, and a little distinctive. Its pink warmth is flattering on virtually every skin tone and gives even a classic design a modern, personal feel. Best for: romantics who want something a touch different. Shop rose gold engagement rings.
What about platinum? Platinum is naturally white, hypoallergenic and very durable, but it's considerably more expensive and is what makes many engagement rings cost what they do. Reia specializes in BIS-hallmarked gold, and 18KT white gold delivers the same bright-white, daily-wear look for less, which, paired with a lab-grown diamond, is how our rings stay genuinely luxurious without the luxury markup.
A guide to diamond shapes
Reia offers ten shapes: Round, Oval, Princess, Emerald, Cushion, Pear, Marquise, Asscher, Radiant and Heart. Here are the six most popular and what to know about each.
Round brilliant: the classic. The most popular shape of all time and the most brilliant, with 57–58 facets engineered for maximum sparkle. It suits everyone and never dates. Browse round-cut rings.
Oval: the modern favourite. An elongated brilliant that sparkles like a round but looks larger for the carat and flatters the finger by making it appear longer and slimmer. One of the fastest-growing choices for couples today. Browse oval-cut rings.
Princess square and crisp. A brilliant-faceted square with sharp corners and lots of fire; modern and a little edgier than a round, usually a touch more diamond-for-money. Browse princess-cut rings.
Emerald: clean and sophisticated. A rectangular step-cut with long, mirror-like facets; less fire, more elegant "hall-of-mirrors" clarity. It looks larger per carat and reads as understated and refined. Choose a higher clarity here, since the open facets hide less. Browse emerald-cut rings.
Cushion soft and romantic. A square or rectangle with rounded corners ("pillow" shape) that combines brilliant-cut sparkle with a vintage, romantic feel. Filter by Cushion in the shape bar above, or explore engagement rings.
Pear: distinctive and elongated. A teardrop, round on one end, tapering to a point that flatters the finger and gives a unique, graceful silhouette. Worn with the point toward the fingertip. Browse pear-cut rings.
Also available: marquise (maximum finger coverage), Asscher (geometric Art-Deco step-cut), radiant (the sparkle of a round in a rectangular shape) and heart.

Caring for your diamond ring
A diamond is the hardest natural material there is, but the gold around it and the security of the setting still need a little care.
-
Clean it at home every couple of weeks: soak for 20–30 minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently behind the stone with a soft toothbrush (that's where skin oils and lotion build up and dull the sparkle), rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
-
Take it off for the gym, gardening, cleaning with harsh chemicals, swimming pools (chlorine), and applying lotions or perfume.
-
Store it separately in a soft pouch or a lined box; diamonds scratch other jewellery (and each other), so don't let rings jostle together in a drawer.
-
Get it professionally checked once or twice a year so a jeweller can inspect the prongs and re-tighten the setting before a stone ever loosens. Reia offers this for free for the life of the ring.

Frequently asked questions
1. Are lab-grown diamonds good for engagement rings?
Yes. They're real diamonds, visually and structurally identical to mined diamonds, equally hard and durable, and they're now the choice for most new engagement rings because you get more diamond, ethically, for your money.
2. Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. They are pure crystallized carbon, identical in chemistry, hardness and sparkle to mined diamonds. The only difference is that they're grown in a lab instead of mined.
3. How can you tell a lab-grown diamond from a mined one?
You can't, by eye; they look identical. Even gemologists need specialist equipment, and the lab report will state the origin. The real differences are price, sourcing and environmental impact.
4. How much cheaper are lab-grown diamonds than natural diamonds?
Roughly 70–90% less for a comparable size and quality in 2025–26, and the gap has widened as the technology has matured. That's why the same budget buys a bigger, cleaner, whiter stone.
5. How much does a lab-grown diamond engagement ring cost at Reia?
Engagement rings start at around ₹15,000 and go past ₹3,00,000. Most fall between ₹40,000 and ₹1,50,000, depending on carat, diamond shape, and gold purity (14KT vs 18KT).
6. Are lab-grown diamond rings durable enough for daily wear?
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds score 10/10 on the Mohs hardness scale, the same as natural diamonds, making them the most scratch-resistant gem you can wear every day.
8. What gold purity do Reia rings use: 14KT or 18KT?
Both. 18KT is purer with richer colour; 14KT is a little harder and more affordable. Both are BIS-hallmarked and ideal for an everyday ring; the choice is about budget and preference.
9. Can I customize my engagement ring?
Yes fully. Choose the diamond shape, carat, setting, gold colour and purity, and add an engraving, or design something entirely new with our in-house team. Start here.
10. Do lab-grown diamonds hold their value / can I resell them?
Lab-grown diamonds are priced as everyday luxury, not as a financial investment, and open-market resale values are currently limited. What protects your spend at Reia is the Carat Club: you can trade up and recover up to 70% of your diamond's value toward an upgrade.
11. Do Reia diamonds ship across India, and is delivery insured?
Yes, orders ship across India, fully insured and in secure packaging, with Cash on Delivery available. See our shipping policy.
12. Can I return or exchange my ring?
Yes. Reia offers returns and lifetime exchange; see the return & exchange policy for current terms.
13. Does Reia make men's engagement and wedding rings?
Yes. Browse rings for him and matching wedding bands.
14. How do I care for my diamond ring?
Clean it every couple of weeks in warm soapy water with a soft brush, take it off for sport, chemicals, and lotions, store it separately, and have the setting checked once or twice a year, free for life at Reia.
15. How long does a custom engagement ring take?
Custom engagement rings typically take 7 days to craft. The exact timeline may vary slightly depending on the design and finish, which we confirm with you (along with sizing) during your design consultation before crafting begins. Book a consultation.
